Mad props to my mom for introducing this delicious-ness to me. Here's what it is:
- Equal parts raw local honey and raw organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) - I do about a tablespoon of each
- Cinnamon to taste - I prefer mine super-cinnamon so I do maybe two teaspoons
Stir those three together in your glass so that the honey is dissolved and the cinnamon isn't clumpy. Add ice and water. I highly recommend sparkling/carbonated water. It takes this drink from refreshing and tasty to wow-this-is-so-good and addictive.
So, since I wanted to drink, like, 17 glasses of this, I figured I should google "is too much ACV bad for you?"
According to Bragg's site, you can have too much of a good thing so they recommend about two tablespoons a day. So don't drink 17 of these.
The last time I drank a Dr. Pepper (my old coke of choice), I couldn't stand the sickly sweetness of it. That was probably a year ago. Your palate really does change when you switch to a diet of whole foods and cut out chemicals. I was never a huge coke-drinker but I sometimes miss the idea of soda - flavorful and bubbly. Kombucha is what I usually go to for that but it doesn't always hit the spot. I've heard water kefir makes a good soda replacement but I've yet to try it, though I do plan on getting some grains soon. In the meantime, this ACV-ade made with carbonated water is awesome. So I leave with this thought: an apple cider vinegar-ade a day keeps the Dr. (Pepper cravings) away!
